Why We've Stopped Selling Personalised Helium Balloons – And What We Offer Instead!

At Under the Sun in Southend, we've always prided ourselves on offering unique, thoughtful, and fun gifts for every occasion. For many years, personalised foil helium balloons were a popular choice for customers celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, and special events. However, after much consideration, we have decided to stop selling these balloons. We wanted to share why – and also highlight the fantastic alternatives you can still find in our shop!

Rising Costs Due to Shortages

One of the key reasons behind our decision is the rising cost of helium. Over recent years, helium shortages have driven up prices, making it increasingly difficult to offer balloons at a reasonable cost to our customers. As a small independent business, we always strive to provide excellent value, but with supply issues persisting, it became clear that continuing to sell helium balloons was no longer sustainable.

A More Ethical & Sustainable Approach

Beyond the cost factor, we are also increasingly mindful of our environmental impact. Foil balloons, while fun and eye-catching, are not biodegradable and can contribute to waste and pollution. With more people choosing to shop sustainably, we felt it was the right time to shift our focus to eco-friendlier gift options. We know that celebrations can still be just as special – without harming the planet!

Will We Sell Helium Balloons Again?

We understand that many of our customers loved our personalised helium balloons, and we truly appreciate your support over the years. While we've made the decision to stop selling them for now, we will continue to monitor the situation. If the market changes, and more sustainable or cost-effective solutions become available, we may revisit the idea in the future.
