William Morris (1834–1896), one of the most celebrated practitioners of the Arts and Crafts Movement, created woven and printed textile designs using the ancient technique of hand woodblock printing.
The pattern on this double sided bookmark features pairs of birds, both standing and in flight, surrounded by scrolling acanthus leaves and yellow sunflowers.
As seen on this bookmark, his evocations of the natural world have become design classics.
